Mountain climbing is a great way to escape the rat race and be one with nature. Ashe County can be the playground for the ‘outdoors’ customer, with many parks and natural areas with hiking, biking, horseback using and picnicking. Erosion causes the surface of mountains to be younger than the rocks that form the mountains themselves. Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail is the rising community of members and volunteers who support the path, an official unit of the North Carolina State Park System.

Over time, the climbing journals grow to be a history of climbs and a great memento. Established in the Nineteen Thirties to preserve the natural beauty of the southern Appalachian Mountains, the park is host to a wealthy diversity of plant and animal life and is an ideal place to connect with nature.
